Past and Present

1999-2009 my 10 year reunion! Yes, FCS was so small that my graduating class of 17 was the largest graduating class to date at the time. A sweet time of meeting babies, spouses, and catching up even with those who live near but we never seem to see each other. However, 2 hours is simply not enough time so hopefully we'll keep up more regularly.

And....on to Evangeline. Rocks are a recent fascination. In fact a couple weeks ago we went to the Discovery Center and I could barely pry her away from a pit of rocks and shovels. (and yes, I left my camera sitting on the kitchen table that day so no pictures). So anyway I went to Michaels and bought some rocks. Those, coupled with some buckets from the beach, and a drawer organizer, and we now have hours of fun.

She is still blowing me away with her communication and I am just eating up this year of her life! She is constantly surprising me with words I didn't even know that she knew. A friend of ours was talking to her dog and said "good girl", which Evangeline repeated perfectly. Also, the other day in the car I handed her a little blanket and and she scooped it up close to her chest and said, "blankie". Had no idea that she knew that word. Add Keys, Shoes, Water (which is "wawee" and so cute I could die) and Monkey.

But here is this week's favorite Evangelineism for me: The other night Laurel met up with Eden, Evangeline, and I. Now it is somewhat rare when Evangeline sees Laurel without her children, so as soon as Laurel walked in and for about 30 minutes following, every 2 minutes Evangeline would turn and look at Laurel and say, "where's Silas?" over and over again. She even continued to look out the window for him. It was amazing. She has the capacity to make the association of Silas with Laurel but not the comprehension to understand that Silas is home with Papa. So there was little use in our trying to answer her frequent and direct probing but we tried anyway.
