A local church does a re-creation of the city center of Bethlehem each year to allow people a glimpse of what it may have looked like at the time of Christ's birth. I think this is especially great for kids, though I had an emotional moment as we walked the crowded "streets" waiting to be counted, feeling my little girl move inside me and thinking about Mary making that journey, and the tiny baby Jesus that most likely kicked her side, and somersaulted in her womb just as my little girl does. How amazing. Almost incomprehensible.
They do a fantastic job of creating the town center. I am a huge appreciator of authenticity. In my opinion, the actual nativity could have been better but I give them credit just for remaining outside today!
We have our first official snow of the year. It has been steadily falling since this morning, and there's quite a pretty white sheet now. I'm sure a post will follow of us playing in it tomorrow.
Bean and the doll and clay pot that she made today in Bethlehem.
