On Thursday as we were packing for home, my mom text messaged me from Rob's doctor appointment with the news that he was leaking spinal fluid from his nose which would probably mean more surgery. Gut-wrenching. We thought the worst was over, he was on the mend and it was only up from here. But indeed it did mean surgery...that same day. Granted it was a less invasive surgery as it only involved the ear and not the brain but surgery nonetheless. They went in through the same incision as the week before.
Robby is so strong. Of course this was greatly discouraging to him and I know that he felt the weight of all the week's decisions, emotions, and trepidation all over again. Wendy, Theresa, and Noel called just in time! They called to pray with him and encourage him and by the time we arrived at the hospital to see him, he was in high spirits considering. We spent some time with him, prayed with him, and then Jayme, Rebecca, Dad, Evangeline and myself headed to the airport.
Surgery went well. Of course it was much quicker than the previous surgery but recovery has seemed to be very similar. He was in a lot of pain the first couple of days until they finally increased his medication. Now today, he is just getting to the point of feeling a little more like himself. Able to carry on conversation as normal and feeling better. They will see the doctor tomorrow and he will give them an ide of when they can head home. Please pray for my mom-her strength is to be admired.
