Laid To Rest

In Memory of Stephen James Braun

Kymmie and Wesley
Evangeline and her Nanna

Evangeline and her Grandpa John
Evangeline and her Uncle Wes on her 6 month birthday

This weekend we drove to Florida for Jayme's dad's Memorial Service. Evangeline did great in the car for 12 hours each way. Jayme and I however were another story. We behaved ourselves in the car, we just wore ourselves out :) The trip was a bit of a whirlwind but a very sweet time with family. Those times are so rare. You hate that something like death would be the thing to bring us together but this time, it was. Even throughout the events and busyness of preparing for the service, the service itself, and the sorting through of Dad's things I'm left with the empty and solemn thought: he is not here. It's amazing how frequent of a circumstance it is for people to die but it never gets any easier to comprehend their absence. I suppose one of the positive things about it is that it does bring us together. And those are truly precious and memorable times.

Sorry about the lack of pictures. Our camera battery was dead until the last day.

I can tell you both from experience that the empty feeling never goes away but the tears just become less. There is always a peace that comes over me knowing that my dad is hangin' with Jesus now.
