I can hardly believe this flooding. In 2 days we have had more rain than the average entire month of May. Rain, thunderstorms, tornado warnings. That has been the whole of our weekend. Thankfully Jayme made it home yesterday just in time. His flight was delayed 4 hours but we're so grateful he got home when he did. They're not allowing any flights in today. I'm also incredibly thankful for a house on a hill. And while I am filled with gratitude I also feel so helpless to do anything for anyone who's houses are flooding and being evacuated.
The mayor has issued a statement requesting that no one leaves their homes unless absolutely necessary. So here we sit.
Last night Evangeline had a fever (she always gets fevers when she teethes. Doctors can try to tell me that fevers are not associated with teething but I'm sorry, there's no other explanation.) So she and I had some major snuggle time from 3:15-4:00 a.m. and then she slept in our bed with us for the first time. She's a pretty independent spirit and tends to like her own space so she never actually cuddles with us long enough to settle into sleep. It was wonderfully cozy to wake up to thunder and our family of 3 all snuggled together. That's one upside to this wet, destructive weekend.
